#11 Leg Yields

Is this a helpful exercise?

Appropriate gaits: Walk, Trot, Canter

Instructions:

Perform leg yields.

Easiest = leg yield facing the long-side wall (walk only).

Easy = quarter line to wall.

Harder = center line to wall.

Repeat: 4 long sides per direction, per gait.

Focus: Insist on a straight horse. Neck should not bend.

Focus: Inside leg aid then outside rein as each leg lifts.

Focus: Weight your seat to the outside (into motion).

 

Good for: Connection, straightness
