#106 Fix My Position for Dressage

Is this a helpful exercise?

Instructions:
Perform these steps at a halt to fix your basic dressage position.

  1. Sit tall. Envision pulling the back of your head upward.
Do not arch your back. Do not push the top of your chest upward.
You want your back to be straight or slightly rounded.
  2. Now take your right leg and push it way behind the girth (toward the horse’s hip)
Let it fall naturally. Your heel should arrive to a position vertically under your hip.
  3. Now take your left leg and push it way behind the girth (toward the horse’s hip)
Let it fall naturally. Your heel should arrive to a position vertically under your hip.
  4. Check your hip position.  Make sure it is open, not collapsed.

Good for: People who tend to sit in a chair seat.

Good for: People who arch their back too much.
