#1 Shoulder-in yields

Ride shoulder-in from the corner and down the long side.  Before the next corner, turn so that your horse’s shoulders are on the short side’s quarter-line, then leg yield your horse to the wall.  Your horse’s hind end should yield further than shoulders.

Repeat: 4 x long-side per direction and per gait.

Appropriate Gaits:  Walk, Trot

Optional Focus: Focus on your weight aids.  Read more about this in Dressage Today.  How do I weight my inside seat?

Optional Focus: Ask for different degrees of bend. Ask for less than 3 tracks.  Ask for 4 tracks. Find what balance point works best for your horse.

Optional Focus: Insist on light aids and ahead-of-your-leg.
